Admissions to B. Tech., M. Tech., M. Arch. and MBA courses shall be made through Central Counselling. For M. Sc., MA, M. Tech. (Holistic Development Systems & Technologies) and PG Diploma (Human Values) shall be made on the basis of inter-se merit of the candidates in the qualifying examination.

Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria for admission to B. Tech., M. Tech., M. Arch. and MBA courses shall be same as notified by Punjab Govt. For M. Tech. – Food Technology, the eligibility criteria is given below:

The eligibility criteria for Non-AICTE courses are prescribed as given below:

3. M.Sc. – Mathematics Passed B.Sc. with 50% marks having Mathematics as one of the subject in B.Sc. (45% marks in case of candidate belonging to SC/ST category)
4. M.A. – Journalism and Mass Communication All those candidates who have passed graduation with 50% marks in any discipline (45% marks in case of candidate belonging to SC/ST category)
5. PG Diploma – Human Values Graduate with 40% marks in any discipline
6. M.Tech. – Holistic Development Systems & Technologies B. Tech., B.E., MCA or equivalent technical qualification with 50% marks
Reservation:

The reservation of seats shall be as per rules of Punjab Government, Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training.

Procedure for admission to AICTE courses:
  • Admissions to all B. Tech, M. Tech., M Arch and MBA courses shall be made through Central Counselling being conducted by IKG PTU on behalf of Government of Punjab. The eligibility, procedure, reservations, fee to be charged and all other conditions notified by Government of Punjab for the session 2016-17 shall be applicable for admission to the courses at IKG PTU Main Campus for session 2016-17 onwards.

  • There shall be two rounds of centralized counselling by I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. The counselling schedule shall be as notified by IKGPTU. Thereafter the direct admissions at the level of University shall be made for vacant seats.

  • The information about the eligibility for admission to different courses and reservation of seats for various categories shall be made available by I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar on website www.ptuadmissions.nic.in and www.ptu.ac.in

  • To fill the vacant seats, expeditiously, after 1st round of counselling in Main Campus, parallel registration of eligible candidates for admission may be allowed. All such candidates registered directly through online portal for admission to IKGPTU shall be entitled for admission only if seats remain vacant after 2nd round of Centralized online counselling.

  • For MBA course, non-CMAT candidates are also eligible to apply and will be allowed to register for admission.

  • All such candidates registered directly through online portal for admission to IKGPTU shall be entitled for admission only if seats remain vacant after 2nd round of Centralized online counselling. Such registered candidates shall have no right of allotment of seats prior to completion of 2nd round of counselling (including reporting time).

  • After following above said procedure, if still the seats remain vacant in reserve category, the University will fill these from candidates belonging to general category in subsequent step at the end of counselling.

Procedure for admission to Non-AICTE courses:
  • The counselling to Non AICTE courses shall be made online and purely on the basis of merit and result shall be declared on the notified date to the students.

  • Preparation of Merit list :

  • 1. There will be a common merit lists for General and Reserved categories / subcategories (if applicable) candidates.

  • 2. The rank of the candidates in the merit list securing equal marks will be in accordance with the following criteria:

  • (a)    The candidate securing higher aggregate percentage marks in the qualifying examination shall rank higher in order of merit.

  • (b)    In the case of tie in (a) above, the candidate senior in age shall rank higher in order of merit.

  • University will make admissions in one round of counselling based on rank in inter-se-merit of the qualifying examination considering the respective reserve category, as applicable by Punjab Government.

  • After following above said procedure, if still the seats remain vacant in reserve category, the University will fill these from candidates belonging to general category in subsequent step at the end of counselling.
