On the occasion of National Press Day an interactive session was organized in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of IKG Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Dr. Harjeet Singh, a renowned producer, writer, director and illustrator of Punjabi Cinema was the guest on the occasion.

The programme began with floral felicitation of Dr. Harjeet by Dr. Ranbir Singh, Head, Department of Journalism And Mass Communication. Dr.Ranbir talked at length about contributions of Dr. Harjeet as a successful media personality who has served at Doordarshan, Jalandhar for 21 years in the era when unlike today instead of browsing channels then watching any most of the time was spent by being glued to serials that had reflection of our lives. He further emphasized that Dr. Harjeet had written and directed many serials and documentaries for Doordarshan as well. He stated that  National Press Day – The 16th of November – is symbolic of a free and responsible press in India and the students of media should cherish its importance Dr. Sarabjeet Singh Mann, Assistant professor of Punjabi also spoke on the occasion and talked about the contribution of Dr. Harjeet as a successful writer and producer of Punjabi Cinema. Dr. Harjeet  on the occasion exemplified  the importance of Indian press which is a fourth estate of Indian democracy. He stated that freedom of press personifies a responsible and self regulated media in the country.
